Biography of the artist Ptah
Ptah Eikner is an independent artist living in Atlanta, Georgia and has been painting and drawing since he was four years old. He is a 1992 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and a 1987 graduate of the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He has completed other professional development through the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs and Fulton County Arts Council.
He has completed a number of artistic commissions to include permanent art for Gladys Knight & Ron Winan's Chicken Waffle Restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia and Largo, Maryland and for private investors.
Ptah has an honorable discharge from the United States Coast Guard.
He has held professional associations with the Southwest Water Color Society (Dallas), Community Artists Collective (Houston), Alumni Association of Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah), High Museum 20th Century Club (Atlanta), Artist of Color of the South Carolina Arts Commission (Columbia), and Columbia Museum of Art.
Artist Statement
I believe that the love of life and the peace of the soul must always be revealed in my works. It is sometimes obvious… as love is and it is sometimes very complex… as peace is. I look to the universe for the subject matter. Sometimes it appears in a flower and at others it appears in a myriad of healing color and form.
I also pull all of the invisible in nature and the universe and place them on canvas. I believe also that life is not what we see but all the elements of sound, light, color and frequency that take form and become what we do see . These elements make up our thought patterns and come to us as dreams, universal light and love.
